"It's a long way to Tipperary, It's a long way to go. It's a long way to little Mary To the sweetest girl I know! Goodbye, Piccadilly, Farewell, Leicester Square! It's a long long way to Tipperary, But my heart's right there." One of the most thrilling songs of World War I, also known as "The Great War" or "The War to End All Wars." However, when songwriters, Jack Judge and Henry James "Harry" Williams wrote the famous marching song did not know where Tipperary was. They had never been to Ireland! It was just such a lively and rhythmic word to inspire the feet of the marching soldiers. Another very interesting aspect of this story is that the song, even after 105 years, is still obtaining royalties for the estate of Harry Williams.

Over the next several weeks, I will be publishing, with the aid of my daughter, Bettse Folsom, a series of answer & questions & snippets about Ireland that many people have asked me during events where I have attended. If you have a question, please contact me by email and I will be happy to address it.

Thank you for reading my blog!
